Hey Gang

The old man needs help. I have some pictures I want to post on a thread in the Forum but don't know how.

Can one of you young computer whizes tell me how?

Thanks
Der Alte

Hi All
This one pops up all the time. Maybe Scott can add the answer to the FAQ's

I forgot how I did it last time, but if this works, I'll let you know the secret. Fingers crossed, just in case.

Kirby,
OK, it works.....when you post, check the "Use HTML" feature. You have to post the picture on some server (in my case, www.slip.net/~netmaven). Then just type in "http://www.ispname.com/account/filename.ext" and it should come up. If you type this after your message, the picture should appear below the text.
Bueno suerte,
Mike

Mike, I must be doing something wrong because it won't work for me unless I also use HTML <TAGS>.

Kirby, as Mike indicated the pictures people apparently post on the aerodrome forum aren't actualy there. What you post are coded instructions instructing everyones browsers where on the web to find the pic and where on the screen to display it. Three <TAGS> are all you need to know in order to post image with text and a fourth for posting URL's. There are a few more tricks like possitioning and sizing of image or italicising text which are useful but not essential. Learn ten <TAGS> and you are a fully fledged Forum Webmaster

Peter,
If you know what the tags are, or if anyone does, it's worth it to post them here. Anyone can then copy them and keep them as a reference to prevent future "duh" incidents.

Mike et al, a typical picture posting from me looks like this.

--------------------------------------------------

Text here and here and here and here

Peter L
-------------------------------------------------

The immage line looks a bit complicated but isn'nt really once you notice it's nearly all URL.
Bracketed on either side are just possitioning <TAGS> to keep things tidy. The
tags are necessary to keep the text from showing as one continuous line.

If you cut and past everything between the dotted lines into a reply box and select HTML YES and PREVIEW YES you can run it and see what happens. Don't forget to re-set though or Scott will see to it that Santa doesn't visit you this year.

Changing the URL will change the image and changing the text changes...the text. Change anything between the <square brackets> and it's Goodnight Vienna.

Hope this helps

Peter,
Many thanks. I knew I forgot part of the code, but I did it on the fly without checking my own literature.
VBR,
Mike
