Well I finally got the Guynemer thing translated and hacked down to a handy web-page sized portion. It's not yet for public consumption and won't be on the web-page proper until I've finished the aircraft details, colour profiles and modelling stuff. But anyone who's interested can access it at www.escadrille.mcmail.com/guy-frame.html.

Notification of any obvious howlers will be gratefuly received, the more so if by e-mail so as to spare my blushes.

Congratulations. An outstanding job. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Was there ever any explanation as to why that British pilot attacked Guynemer? The Spad sillouhette has always seemed the easiest to recognize to me.

Again, congratulations.

Thank you Kirby. The French account offers no explaination, though it does say that the British pilot was most appologetic when told who had shot him down. Well he would be wouldn't he?
Of interest though, as the colour profile and model will show, the SPAD 13 Guynemer flew on that day was marked with a black and white Stork on the fuselage side. Perhaps it was mistaken for an Iron Cross.

thanks again
