I am seeking information and photographs of the Imperial Russian Air Service, specifically information on my grand-father, Lt.Alexander Vladimirovich Vorobiov. We still have his aviation wings and his Order of St. Stanislas. Anyone with information please contact me. Thank you.

Ann - I have quite a lot of material on the IRAS but did not upon a quick look find anything specific to your granfather. Do you have any other detail about his service, type of plane, locations - anything at all would be useful. I will be glad to share any information or photographs I have regarding the Imperial Russian Air Service.......and may yet have something with his picture. If there is any mention of fighter, recon, bomber, balloon serive etc it would be of great help.
And by the way Keith is correct if you would like a VERY detailed though expensive history of the Air Service than the Flying Machine Press is a wonderful reference. You can get it through Amazon or link through this site's book links. Be prepared to deplete your bank account though for that book.
Anyway let me know if I can be of any service on photo's etc. John G.

Keith,

Thanks for your tip about the book on The Imperial Russian Air Service. I found a copy of it at the Barnes & Noble here in NYC and spent some time looking through it - great book. When I get some extra money I will probably buy it to add to my collection.
