Happy New year Stef:
You cannot determine production batches by using the weight table. You can determine the manufacturer, Albatros Werke or OAW. The Albatros Werke used two lines centered on each other below the center-line, below the cockpit on the left side of the fuselage which read:
__________________________
Leergewicht: 675 kg
Zülassige Belastung bei vollem Tank: 135 kg
OAW built Alb.D.III were marked with the later Idflieg directed format located above the center-line below the cockpit:
Leergewicht:---------664 kg
Nutzlast:----------------227 kg
Gesamtgewicht:----891 kg
_________________________________
There was one batch that Peter Grosz states they were built by OAW that were marked totally inconsistant with OAW markings including the position of the upper wing crosses, these were D.2362-2561/17. I contend the first 50-100 were made by the Albatros Werke. The wheel covers are Albatros Werke design. The markings were:
_____________________________
Leergewicht: 673 kg
Nutzlast: 225 kg
Gesamtge: 908 kg
On these machines the weight table is below the center-line. This is consistant with Albatros Werke built Alb. D.Va machines except for weight values.
The Alb.D.V machines were marked the same as the Albatros built D.III except for the weight values. There was an underline below the Nutzlast weight on all the tables.
Albatros built D.IIIs batches could be determined in part by the half round foot step to s/n D.2098/16, square step D.2099/16 et seq. Central radiator to D.2199/16, offset to the right, D.2200/16 et seq. All OAW D.III had the off set radiators and the square steps. Mfg's plates on Albatros built were located on both sides of the nose between the ring cowl and the forward access door. OAW name plates were centered below the cockpit on the upper longeron.
Blue skies,
