While the Celeron 466 should be enough processor, I would recommend going to VooDoo 3 or higher. VooDoo 2 is nice, but most of those cards are seperate graphics accelerator cards and are installed in addition to a standard video card where the V3 and higher are are combo cards. This saves you a slot or two. And since the VooDoo 5 is the latest card out, the V3's are rather cheap.

And increase your RAM to 128 megs. It makes a HUGE difference.

A couple of Q's regarding RB3D for anyone willing to assist those of us who speak only broken computerese. I have the 3D version of the game, with none of the add-ons that are frequently referred to. I play the game (try to play is a better explanation) on a 300 MHz Pentium II, so I assume the computer is not the problem. If any additions are needed, please inform.

1. My planes do not seem very flyable; often they roam in exactly opposite orientation as directed. "Stable" planes such as the SE-5a and SPAD XIII seem to be the worst, but I dont have good control with any plane. Should I be sent back to the trenches, or are there some adjustments to be made to my settings?

2. What is the best site to visit to receive detailed explanations for playing the game?

3. Where does one find a list of locations for playing the game on-line? Haven't played in quite a while, and the last time I tried the link provided on the opening page of game no longer puts you into such an environment.

4. How do you overcome not being permitted to paint your plane in a campaign? How do you get access to a wider variety of paint schemes, i.e., how can you paint a plane in any way desired?

5. It is difficult to believe that WWI crates were as indestructible as the game makes them appear. Upon putting hundreds of rounds into an enemy plane while riding closely on its tail, the plane escapes as often as it goes down. Then, after one short burst from the guns of the same plane, I find that I have been killed in action. What gives?

Best place for all of the patches and such, and a good place to ask your questions, is at Wings of Honor.

http://www.wingsofhonor.com

You might also want to go to the Delphi Flight Sim forum and ask questions there.

http://forums.delphi.com/flight/start/

Dynamix still maintains a message board for RB, but I haven't been there in ages and don't have the URL for that board.

Hope this helps.

Believe it or not, most if not all of your questions are answered by patches.

www.delphi.com/flight

www.delphi.com/vonhelton

Go to the above to get all of the answers to your questions & more.

Observer....

The reason it may be taking so many round even at point-blank range is you may be shooting the tail and unfortunately bullets do not pass through the fabric as they realistically should. Thus the tail gets wasted and bullets that pass into it after are wasted.

Aim for the cockpit/engine area and no matter what Damage model you may have loaded it will take fewer bullets to take em down. Try to attack at slight angles instead of directly behind.

The problem with the paints in Campaign mode is a bug that can be fixed if you are in to hex editing. If you are interested in pokink around getting in the guts of the program, E-mail me and I will send you the fix.
