The Baron and his squadron suffered heavy losses in April and early May of 1918 while flying the Tripe, Alb and Pfalz rides then available to them. Although they also inflicted losses on the Brits, they were in no way dominating the skies like they did the previous spring.
When the unit was moved to oppose the French fliers at some point in May, they again started to dominate the skies. Was this more the result of superior equipment (new D-VII's) or inferior enemy forces (men and/or machines)? Which French units were they fighting at this time? Where were the Storks located at this time?
