I find the term "offensive" offensive. The Somme offensive,I find, was offensive. Here in Pittsburgh, the Steelers offense is also,I think, offensive. The word "offensive" can be rearranged to spell "fife ovens".

I think that sums it up,except...

Damn Yankees!(in the baseball sense,I assure you,Mr.Skinner!)

I too agree with Steven S. Yankees are offensive. Especially when they call us Southrons , redneck and compare us with nazis. LEAVE MY FLAG ALONE. ERRRR...............I best get off my soapbox.
The South shall rise again.
send the carpetbaggers packing!

OH, Let the Hun live again!

I also support the censorship of all references to "Boche," "Archie" and "Jerries." And especially the terms "Yank" and "Down Under," due to the obvious erotic undertones.

And I would like to be referred to as Irish-Cherokee-English-American, please.

My mother and two older brothers were born in Texas. I was born in Kansas, and I was 10 years old before I discovered my name wasn't "Blue-belly Yankee Scum"!

...Whale?
I remember when the Douglas A-3 Skywarrior was finally nearing retirement. Nicknamed the "whale," it was featured on bumper stickers at Alameda and elsewhere, saying,
"Save the Whale!"

>I think the term "hun" should be banned from
>the forum.I find it rather offensive.

The word itself isnt offensive, it is one individual's posts who have been offensive. Unfortunately this thread and another have trivialised this issue, but ... our forum contingent from Germany were frequent posters and initiators of threads previous to Ginger's incessant and thoughtless postings, there is a barely a post from them now.

This is unfortunate as they always introduced data and viewpoints that were new, interesting and often previously uncovered by English speaking media. This forum is lesser without their input.

This has nothing to do with PC (as this often gets branded), I am annoyed that an individual has potentially (if not already) made this forum an unpleasant environment for our German friends.

He's escaped!!!this is what happens when you lower your guard. The NCO,now a Private,in charge of guarding The Von and his aircraft tells a tale staggering by any standard.A Gotha, so big, it held 20 Stormtroopers and a field workshop landed, rpaired the Albatros and they all flew away together.
So spare a thought for old Ginger, Christmas morning I will be alone high in the empty blue looking for the Hun.This time the descision will be left to me,Mr Lewis and Mr Vickers.
Cheerio chin-chin goodbyeee.

Honestly, if anyone left over something so trivial then it was just a matter of time anyway.

If everyone's feelings were so tender, the Canadians would all have left when Billy Bishop bashing was in style, the Americans would have all left when they were jeered as "Yanks" and Luke was referred to as a dead bloke that nobody ever heard of, and the Aussies would all have left when they were accused of murdering MvR on the ground.

Everyone here has been insulted (intentionally or otherwise) as one time or another. But life is a little bigger than that.
