The last edition of "The German Giants" by Haddow and Grosz point out that the Poll Giant triplane may have been a hoax. Some further clarification on this point appeared in an issue of the journal "WWI Aeroplanes". This journal also had one issue with a beautiful color cover painting of the Poll giant flying over the coast off of New York City in 1919.
