Which website would you consider the most comprehensive for researching allied squadrons?

Hardly comprehensive, but for light research and quick reference I would recommend http://british-forces.com/cig/squadrons/squadindex.html for RFC/RAF.

American, Belgian, British, French, Italian, Russian or,
  • Australian?

The best site on the net for the Australian Flying Corps is one that many on this forum have contributed to;

It deals with a lesser known period of Australian Martial history and in many texts, an often unrecognized or misrepresented aviation arm that fought in WWI. The website goes into a fair bit of detail to do with the AFC Squadrons.
