The primary focus of this site is World War One 1914-1918. There are other sites out there that might be much more helpful to you.

The 462nd FS was created in October 1944. CO from Oct 21, 1944 to the end of the war was Maj. T D DeJarnette. The unit was part of the 506th FG, which claimed 46/4/27 victories. The 462nd claimed 10/0/6. It flew P-51Ds from North Field, Iwo Jima from April 24, 1945 to the end of the war, and received a Distinguished Unit Citation for operations over Japan June 7 to June 10, 1945. The only ace for the Group is Abner M Aust of the 457th FS, with 5 victories.
