One often sees racks of flare cartridges attatched to the sides of German a/c. Are these cartridges all brass? Brass and cardboard like older ahotgun shells? Are they color coded.
Admittedly this is a MINUTE detail but in 1/48 and larger scales this will show up. I'd like to get it right. Thanks in advance for any help. Best regards, Terry

Actually I believe they are tin, With a crimped seem down one side. I would assume that they had colored bands denoting what they were but this is pure speculation. I've been looking for some for my collection for the past 10 years with no luck at all but when I finally do get one I'll let you know for shure!
