Russian clear doped linen

In his article "A general survey of Russian national markings 1914 - 20" (published in Windsock International, Vol. 16. n.3, May/June 2000) Harry Woodman expresses his belief that usually Russian clear doped linen aircraft had a "fawn brown appearance".

According to Carl Bobrow, the real shade of clear doped linen surfaces varied greatly, depending on the dopes manufacturer.

The fawn or beige color would indicate that the linen fabric was unbleached.
