Yeah, apparently the Richthofen's did move around a lot. An uncle of MvR named Walter von Richthofen emigrated to the US in the late 1800's and settled in Denver. His old abode is still called Richthofen Castle today.

Liebling et al

I was somewhat taken back when I read the above quote. I had never heard of a sister named Frieda but thought that perhaps I had just missed something somewhere, Now it seems that the author might have been misinformed or merely assumed Frieda was a sister to Manfred.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

Check out two books, both offered on ABEBooks.com:
LUCAS, Robert. Frieda Lawrence. The Story of Frieda von Richthofen and D.H. Lawrence.
New York: The Viking Press, (1973)

and

Green, Martin The von Richthofen Sisters: The Triumphant and the Tragic Modes of Love: Else and Frieda von Richthofen, Otto Gross, Max Weber, and D H Lawrence, in the Years 1870-1970
1974 New York

I have not seen either book, and they are a little too far from the subject matter of my aces biographies collection for me to want to add them.
