Sean, HG had his own DVII painted white, though he briefly flew a red and yellow machine marked for LvR who retired hurt at about that time. The rest of the units a/c adhered to the established marking practice

Also, when MvR was killed Wilhelm Reinhard took over JG 1, not Lothar. Then he was killed in a freak accident which led to Goering's command.

My Gallery
Sean and Peter L:
I wish to add some to this question. I have reason to believe Goering's all white Fok. D.VII 5125/18 was Fokker factory painted. The reason I think this is, all the markings and identifications are painted over the white finish.
Now I have something else of interest about an all white Fok.D.VII. There were two reports made by pilots of the 147th U.S.Aero Squadron on 26 September 1918 of a German leader flying an ALL WHITE FOK.D.VII WITH RED CROSSES in the area of Milly-devant-Dun. Milly-devant-Dun is in the Area of the German 5.Armee. The correct name is Milly-sous-Bradon which is 2 km N.E of Dun-sur-Meuse. On 26 September 1918 JG Richthofen flew in support of the German 5.Armee flying from Metz-Frescaty Airfield in Armee Abteilung "C".
Fok.D.VII 5125/18 with BMWIIIa engine s/n 1373 was accepted on 11 September 1918. Allowing 10 days for delivery it could have arrived on 21 September at Armee Flugpark "C" on 21 September 1918 and most likely picked up by Goering on the 23 or 24 September 1918. The time frame does not allow sufficient time to over paint and detail this machine and have it flying on the 26th. I think all the identification and national markings were red!
Blue Skies,

DSA,
I think your correct in saying it was Fokker factory painted. albatros special on JG1 has it as because of the immaculate paint job and the serial and wieght tables being applied suggest such.
i could go with your summation. as to the red markings..well, the cross on the tail looks black that i can see.. cant see much else.
