Save an archeological site.
Your help is requested to save a german starthouse from 1917. It belonged to the german airfield of Ingelmunster-East (during the war home of more then 12 Jastas, Schustas and Flieger-Abteilungen). It is also the last preserved starthouse in the entire Europe.
Its life is endangered by roadworks. To enlarge the road Ingelmunster-Meulebeke the little house has to disappear.
If you want to help me to preseve the little starhouse mail me the following text:
“Please save the starthouse in Ingelmunster. The building has a high historical value. + your name and address”.
Reply or send a mail to me under the name “save the site”.
Al these mails will be shown to the authorities.
Please ask as many friends or WWI enthousiasts you can to react. Thanks!!!!!!
More news about the historical rescue will follow and send to you.
Sorry that I can’t bring a foto of the house on the net. You can see it in my book Airwar above Flanders on p 124.
Bernard.

Forgive my ignorance... what does a "starthouse" equate to at an Allied aerodrome?

Dear Stephen,
the site was a German airfield in use from juli 1917 onwards. I think the little house is unique in the world.

I hope it doesn't have a crescent cut into the door.
Many such structures decorate back yards in Arkansas.

Gentlemen:
A "Starthaus" is the air operations office for a air unit.
