G'day All,

I thoght I would share Squadron Leader (post war rank)David Edmund Stodart's D.S.O. citation which appeared in the London Gazzette September 21 1918 with you;

"Whilst commanding a flight of the R.A.F. the whole of the flying officers had become incapacitated through sickness or wounds and their duties were preformed by himself, in addition to his administrative work as C.O. During this period Major Stoddart dropped 115 bombs on the enemy's positions, exposed 326 negatives over enemy territory and acted as observer for 163 rounds of our heavy artillery. In a period of 21 days this officer was 37 hours in the air preforming all the duties of an entire flight, a record which it would be difficult to surpass. "

Is this the ultimate case of "Leading by example".

Andrew.
