Forum,
I have just read a few books on the air campaign in Mesopotamia in WW1, and mention is made of a British officer, Leachmore, who apparently had the greatest effect of any Britisher on the Arab populace, the great T E Lawrence included.
It was said his name was printed in arabic on a kind of "blood chit" carried by pilots, and this name was sufficient, at times, to provide protection from almost certain slaughter.
Can anyone tell me more about this man? Who he was, his rank and the reason of his powerful influence? TIA
VBR
