In the industrial part of Sheffield,on a factory wall is a plaque. This remembers workers killed in a Zeppalin raid,I am photographing it soon for a mate.Problem is I don't have a scanner, would it be of interest to anybody if I posted the dedication on the memorial?
Just up the road is the first Bailey bridge, remember Bridge Too Far,"make sure your Bailey crap is at the front of the column"- Eliot Gould to MicheAl Caine. The inventor lived locally I've lived here all my life, studied military history for 30 years and just found this out from the local binman!!!

Hey Ginger, I'm sure we'd like to see the dedication.

Getting off subject, but if Bailey lived local to you - he designed the bridge itself locally to me. It was designed at the MOD experimental establishment at Christchurch, there is still a small branch of DERA on the site, and a pub nearby named the "Bailey Bridge".

Be carefull spitting into Sheffield they might retaliate with a bit of cold steel, and as we know they don't like it up 'em.

When I was drafted into the IDF, I was assigned to the Combat Engineers...ahh, the Bailey Bridge.
Talk about a heavy Tinkertoy! It puts added emphasis on the word "shlep".
