I appreciate seeing and meeting those Forumites that braved the wonderful weather at Dayton, Ohio.
Steve Dorcey, Man, you looked great in your Tropical RFC uniform! Thanks for sharing your Sidcot suit with us.
Kirby, nice meeting you!
And the others that I met.
They may have it again in 2002, for sure in 2003.
here are some photos from the event someone took of me that are on the net.

The Dawn Patrol Fly In was its usual wonderful event. Let me say that it was an honor and a pleasure to meet Steve and Lieutenant Dwight Rudder. These two men really know their stuff and Dwight Rudder is a genuine aviator. He has the right stuff.
Also had the honor of meeting Doggy Cline and his SE5. I was told he began flying in 1934 and his first plane was a Curtis P1.
Dwight, when I get my films developed I'll try to post some on the forum so everyone can see what a great event it was.
Too bad the German Infantry captured you and did their best to get you drunk. Talk about war criminals.

Dwight,
You looked pretty sharp yourself.Your scout is a fine machine too! I didn't introduce myself 'cause you were very busy. But I did get a few seconds on video of you and an older gent at the end of Saturday as you and he discussed your power plant.
Thanks for sharing!!

Great job yourself, Dwight. Your new '07 uniform is really sharp. Dwight got top bomb dropping honors, I believe. 2nd in ballon busting. He had some plane problems which required him to replace the battery Sat and lost a belt on Sunday which grounded him. Think he had some car problems, too but don't know the outcome of that. Good show, Dwight.
Also met Kirby and had a short chat with him. Nice fellow.
It was really a blast. Wish we could have met more of you there.
Regards chaps,

Dwight,it was great to meet you and your lovely wife. Your Nieuport keeps the spirit of Albert Ball alive. There is so much to think about from the weekend, one part being the look on Safety Steve's face when Ross looped the Tripe!! Fortunately a nurse was with Steve to see his face turn pretty colors!
Best to you all,
Robert E. Thomas
(and his wife Karen who is quick on the keyboard)

Dwight,
What is this thingy going on in St. Louis area this coming weekend? A pilot offered to pay for my way to the banquet if I'd show up in uniform- but, alas, when I got home I had a jury summons waiting on me wanting me to report this Friday. Hate to plan anything with that hanging over me.
Regards,
Steve

Dwight,
Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet, but I was there and had a ball watching you guys flying your Nieuports (not to mention the SE5as and two Fokker Dr.Is!). It looks like the R/C crowd had a great time as well, and the quality of some of the models was incredible. But it was great to see all you guys doing your thing and helping to recreate a time long past. Looking forward to 2003 and who knows what planes will be coming to that event...

Here is the Site for the Great War Fly-in and Concourse at Creve Coeur field , St. Louis, Mo.
It has always been a fun event with hospitable people. I believe next year will be their day in the Sun without the Dayton WWI fly-in to shadow them. I hope to go their event but it looks like I will not be bringing my aeroplane because my Van has a blown head gasket and will not be out of the shop until next week. We will see.

Hi Lt Ruddder,
Is that an actual Nie 11 that you are flying? It looks like it is in the colours of Billy Bishop (blue cowling without the blue spinner). You can reply by email, if it is a Nie 11 I have other questions.
Thanks
