Does anyone have any information about a British observer, Sean W. Knight?

Nina,
He may be "unsung" or largely "unknown", but any person who fought in this conflict WAS somebody.

Bless all the Sargeants and W.O 1's,
Bless all the corporals, and their bloomin' sons"

I am not sure where you are from. If you live in London then you could go to the Public Records Office (Richmond or Kew ? - sounds like the eastern suburbs of Melbourne) to start with. You can get an idea of what is there by looking at

http://catalogue.pro.gov.uk/ListInt/...e=WO&class=394

If you wait patiently, I am sure that others will give you more research avenues. Sean W. Knight. Unusual name for WW 1. If you come with anything, make sure you post it here, won’t you

Thank you very much for the advice - however, my chances of going to London in the enar future are next to zero. I'm a Dane stationed in Washington State, USA....
But if I solve my mystery, I'll tell you about it, sure.

Ginger,
I don't have a lot of info. He died in 1916 in a ground battle. I believe he was in Unit 43 and 87 with the RFC but I'm not sure at all. So that's all....

Nina,
According to the CWGC site, no-one of that name is listed as missing or killed in that year. There is a S.W. Knight of 7th Batt. London Regiment, but the date of his death was 4th October 1918.

Paul

Thank you very much for taking the time to find that information - I know I'm hopeless at this, for I am not sure of his date of death; my data has holes, big nasty ones, so he might be my guy, who knows? Is there any more on this S W Knight?
Thank you, Nina V.

Nina,
The information was obtained from the register of missing and killed, held at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website. you can get to it via the links button on the left hand side of this page.
It only gives basic information of who, when and where buried (or commemorated, in the case of missing). Sometimes there is a last known address of next-of-kin, but not in this case.
Regards
Paul
