During WWI, several Portuguese pilots fought in French squadrons, like Spa 65, 124, 79, 158, 278, 263, 204, 218. Some of them had their aircraft painted with a red and green band on the fuselage.
I am doing a research on this issue and any information would be wellcome.
Thanks in advance.

Regards

Hi Rui,

maybe Christophe Cony knows more about that? Did you try to contact him or another French?

Well Portugal entered in WW I and sent a group of pilots wich were trained in France and UK and at first it was planned to form a portuguese squadron but end up in several french squadrons.
Well I published an article on a portuguese magazine "História" and I have collected information from many sources, like books museums, etc.

Hello Hannes!
How are you?
Well not yet, only the French SHAA in Vincennes, they send me 2 pics of a portuguese pilot but no answers to my questions wich I understand because that would take some long time for research but I hope to go there one day and make a personal search on that.
Do you know the e-mail from Mr.Cristopher Cony?

Best Regards

Christophe Cony had in early 98 the address

[email protected]

but he was also posting or answering in one of the last weeks/month here - maybe you can find his last post in an older thread.

VBR

Hannes

Thanks Lucien!
The names are correct and one of them Cabral made a long flight in 1922 crossing the South Atlantic from Lisboa to Rio de Janeiro in a Fairey IIID.
In fact one of the names were new to me.
