I read at the aces section about books on UDet. Does anyone know which book is the best? Is the book he wrote a real autobiography or some Nazi propaganda book? Also has anyone seen any of those movies he's listed in? Are they available on video?

Ace of the Iron Cross was about as close to an autobiography as you will get for Udet. Overall, it's a worthwhile documentation. Plus, there are a couple of Udet movies available. White Hell over Pitz Palu is available at a number of video places i.e. Facets Multimedia in Chicago. (Check out their website) Plus, SOS Iceberg is also available at several vendors. The third film, which, although it doesn't star Udet, has a character loosely based on Udet, is called The Great Waldo Pepper w. Robert Redford. If you haven't seen it already, I highly recommend you pick it up. Finally, the history channel did a documentary on Udet not too long ago and I believe they are selling a copy of it on their website. I hope this helps.

Only the last chapter of Ace Of The Iron Cross has any propaganda in it.

Jeremy:

I've seen the movie Wunder des Fliegens (Miracle of Flight) and it is strictly a film aimed at encouraging young boys to become interested in flying and joining the Luftwaffe. Der Dicke's picture graces the beginning of the film. It has Udet befriending a young kid who is interested in flying. It contains several scenes of Udet flying his plane. Even has footage of Udet(?) skiing. If that was truly him, well, he could ski as well as he flew.
