Thank-you everyone for your quick responses. Alas, after looking over what I have, I'm lacking wheels and the Oberursel engine. Oh well, guess I'll have to buy another kit. Maybe a Blue Max, or an Eduard.

I have a Smer DrI coming in the mail. I'm given to understand it is from the Aurora molds. I've just started learning to cast parts. If you really want to build that kit perhaps I could cobble up some wheels and an engine for you.

Peter and Terry

I have that Smer Fkkr Dr1 kit. By today's standards it can be considered merely passable. It is made in the Czech Republic and it does look like it's made from the old Aurora molds but does not have that quality. It is in 1/44 scale and comes with decals for 2 different Plans; the Dr1 204/17 of Ltnt Paul Bäumer and Dr1 470/17 of Ltnt Josef Karl Jacobs. Lots of excess flash on the kit I have. The decals are not the best quality. With lots of sanding, fitting and a little putty here and ther you can come up with a fairly presentable model.

Good luck

Hi Terry:
If you could possibly cobble me up some wheels and an engine, I would be very grateful. Please send me details about your requirements. Thanks. Pete L

To "the spectator":
Thanks for your response. I'll have to check Smer out. Know of any other manufacturer that does 1/4 scale IM models of the Dr-1? I'd be interested to know. Thanks. Pete

Pete

I have two kits made by Dragon; Dr1 213/17 of Ltnt Fritz Kempf and Dr1 450/17 of Ltnt Josef Jacobs. They are far superior to the Smer kits. I also have the Dragon kit of the Fkkr D.VIII flown by Hans Goerth. All are 1/48 scale.

The Dragon kits are more expensive than the Smer but they are much better.

Pete,
Concur with Spectator Re; Dragon vs. Smer. Dragor kit is superb. I have no requirements beyond your mailing address other than time. My smer kit has not arrived yet and the casting resin takes thirty six hours to cure. I'm working a lot of hours now but as soon as I have all the elements together I'll make them up for you.

Hi Terry:
Sir, you are a mench, and thank-you ever so much. My mailing address is: Pete L'Heureux 58 Carew St. Chicopee, MA 01020 USA. And please take your time. There is no rush. I plan on doing a lot of kitbashing with this, and I'm building it for a friend. For me, later on when I can afford it, I'll get the Dragon kit. Thanks again. Pete P.S. Where do you live?

Dear Mr. Spectator:
Thanks for the tip. I plan on buying the Dragon kit in the future when I can afford it for myself. In the meantime, think I'll sink my teeth into an F4F Wildcat, followed by a Bf110G-4.
Cheers, Pete
