While on holiday in Southern France, I visited a Church in St. Tropez. In that church there was a plaque with the names of the inhabitants "mort pour la patrie" There was a special notice about two airman with the same backname. one was awarded the croix de guerre and the legion de honneur. The other one was only awarded the croix de guerre.

Has anybody got some info on these guys. I was stupid enough not to write down there names so I forgot.

According to The Aerodrome the only two WWI aces with the same last name who received the Croix de Guerre were Wilbert White of the US, and Joseph White of Australia. However, niether were awarded the Legion de Honnuer (SP?). The info on Joseph's burial site is not listed, but it says Wilbert is buried in Romagne Military Cemetery. So given that information I'd have to say Joseph and Wilbert aren't the guys you're looking for. I'd have to say that either The Aerodrome missed a guy, or that one of your pilots was not an ace, and therefore not listed on the list of names on this site.

Sorry for the let down, I'll keep an eye out while I'm doing my research though.

I'm not sure wheter they were given the decorations but there were images besides the names. If my eyes weren't lying to me i'm pretty sure that it were those decorations
