Craig, you say Bishop's record isn't legitimate, "like most allied pilots."

Maybe so. But that's the point Bishop backers have been trying to make all along. That he was by no means alone in over claiming. If German records are correct, very few allied aces shot down anybody at all. So why pick on poor Billy? And his high score isn't an excuse. Many, many, 20-plus Allied aces are in the same boat. Most, in fact, didn't put a single bullet in a single German plane, if we are to believe German records.

Alex revell's thread on August 22d has a lot of info on reasons for different results between allied and german records. If nobody has looked up all the possible matchups, which sounds like a huge job, maybe there's not as much difference as we think. But with about 40% of British claims in the ooc category, there's bound to be errors.

Of Bishop's 20-24 witnessed claims, at least 15 of them resulted in crashed or "flamers" with a result of "Destroyed" instead of "OOC" or "DD".

To Al:
"I'm not irritated, just tired"
Battle fatigue, Al? Hang in there little buddy, the Cavalry's a'cumming!:P

To Craig:
On a more serious note sunshine-do not denegrate the bravery of men who have gone to fight for God,King and Country. That is what they believed in, until 6 months later they simply fought to survive and go home. Whether they ever scored a victory or not, they where there because they believed in their cause and were brave enough to be there and up hold what they considered their to be "their duty". I am right royally ticked off by spineless little fleas such as yourself, who continually denigrate and make fun of brave men, both German and Allied, who fought for their country. Until you have been under fire and had to face your fears and "what the hell am I DOING here!" thoughts, then please respect the men that DID this, no matter what war or what side they were on.
Get a LIFE-LOSER!

Did I hear the word "Cavalry"?

Sorry, but that sounded more like Custer´s last howling!

You're probably right Hannes, but he was a brave man too. Totally misguided, but he did what he believed to be right and paid in full.

You call that "cavalry"? Sounds less like a trumpet than a bellyful of beans.

O, how I tremble!

Yes,

he was brave but also a merciless indian butcher who was overestimating himself a lot. He had his glorious period a long time ago.

Hi Craig,
Unlike yourself, I have made no secret of my e-mail address.
You still have not answered my questions. All you have said is that you are cold and have severe bowel problems. (Does this mean that you are full of @#$%?)
Hope you can let me know ........
