According to "Swifter than Eagles", "General Sir David Henderson, commanding the RFC had made his headquarters at the Hotel du Rhin in Amiens, the main members of his staff being Lt Col FH Sykes, Major HRM Brooke-Popham, Capt Geoffrey Salmond and Lt BH Barrington-Kennett."
I think that was in 1914? Around January 1918 when John Slamond became head of the RFC when trenchard went off with the IAF, the headquarters was in St Andre-au-Bois. Which wasnt far from Haigs GHQ at Montruil.
Interestingly one of the initiatives of February 1918 was an increase in landing grounds. Every squadron was to have a landing ground in the rear in case a German Offensive broke through and squadrons having to back-pedal.
