I bought a booklet of the "Deutsche Kriegsausstellung" (German War Exhibition) in 1916 and found there a report about the forced landing of the British BE with the number 2047 near to the airfield of a German Park. I am shure I have already seen this airplane number but canīt find the reference source.

The BE landed 10.15 a.m. and was captured by the crew of an Albatros which was landing next to the BE. The report claims an escorting French combat airplane left the Brits in the lurch. The BE-crew was meeting the Albatros northwest of Cambrai, had air combat on 50 metres distance (minimum) and problems with putting the heavy MG from one pivot to the other.

Any info appreciated.

Regards

Hannes

The booklet stated: "The exhibition shows a number of enemy airplanes. The following reports give information about their capturing." Therefore it seems reasonable to conclude that this airplane was exhibited in Berlin 1916. There are only two photographs of a downed and exhibited airplane in the booklet. The engine is a rotary but the BE2c 2047 had reportedly a 8 cylinder-Renault engine (says the report).

I am convinced that other photographs of the exhibition exist and maybe also for this airplane but sadly not in this booklet. I can only scan the short report for you if you want (but not before tomorrow).

VBR

Hannes
