Hi once more,

I am also looking for the colours of the Marine Feldjasta's. I am 100 % shure that on a certain moment the planes of the II were completely yellowish. Seems there was also use of green ?
Of course I do have the Jasta Pilots, but I am looking for a little bit more than a very good guess. Does anyone know 100 % for shure ?

Thanks !

THE JASTA PILOTS from Grub Street has, in one of its appendices, a list of all Jastas, and colors where known.

The 1917 photos show a stippled finish on the upper part of the fuselage, maybe green.

My Gallery
Alb Dva from late 1917 into 1918 carried a stipple green over natural wood or light grey. I believe these planes were later transfered into MFJ II. There is a good line up photo of MFJ II in Squardon Signal Albatros Fighters showing the stipple Dvs as well as a variety of personal markings. One of the older profiles I did was of an Albatros Dv of MFJ II at my website.

I have not been able to find any specific use of colors for any of the Pfalz DIIIa used by MFJ units but there were a variety of personal markings in use. SOme sources suggest yellow was adopted by MFJ II but it appears it may also have been used in MFJ III. One problem is that planes and pilots seemed to have transferred between MFJ units often.

Thanks for the information, I did have a suspicion on these green spots, but nothing for shure.

I have the Squdrin Signal you mentioned. I know that on a certain moment the planes, probably Albatros DVa, were (almost) completely yellow, because the plane of Osterkamp had two black bands around the fuselage, making it look like a hornet. Osterkamp has confirmed this in a interview of 1973. At his time he normally should have been with the I MFJ.

The paint seems to have been different from unit to unit in the Marine Jagdgeschwader.
