Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know there is a brandnew but still small museum in West-Flanders - Belgium, known as the Long Max museum, situated at 8680 Koekelare, Clevenstraat 2. During july and august it is open saturdays and sundays from 1400 till 1800 hrs. In september only on sundays, and it closes in oct. for works.
There are two major diorama's on full scale one of the Long Max battery with German marines(also known as Pommern, 1 x 38 cm, now under construction) and one of a Belgian trench with soldiers in the 1914 and 1918 uniforms with light and sound effects. A Third one of an AA battery follows by the end of the year.
There are some items out of German WW I submarines, and lots of militaria on the Marinekorps Flandern and the Belgian army.
Photo's show the history of the Marinekorps Flandern, (also the naval air units), the sinking of the Pommern at Skaggerak, the Baden class ships with their 38 cm guns, the Pommern battery during cosntruction, in action and after the war and as a museum visited by Winston Churchill, Hirohito, Woodrow Wilson and Albert I.
Multimedia have also started their usefullness in the museum.
The concrete gunemplacement and its underground bunkers are now being excavated. Another 38 cm gun will come here again, identical to the one who stood here.
If interested write to the above adress, an e-mail adress follows shortly.

Regards,

Johan
