In August 1918 the crew Leutnant Schwertfeger/Gefreiter Günter (I think the latter was the pilot) of FA(A) 252 were setting one tank in flames and directed the artillery fire to a second which was destroyed too.

Who can tell me some details (biography?) about this aircrew?

Regards,

Hannes

Hi Hannes

Lt Ernst Schwerdtfeger was an observer arriving to FAA 252 on 23 June 1917.
He was wounded in action 30 October 1917.
He later returned to the unit but was killed in a chrash on 7 November 1918.
His pilot then vfw Johannes Guenther was badly WIC and died on 10 November 1918.
Ref OF 8/3.

Many thanks, Gunnar!

Really sad to die only hours before the end of the war!
