I have a few more questions.

1. Does anyone know anything beyond the story that LvR married and divorced some Baroness, had a son, flew for some airline, and died in a crash on July 4, 1922?
2. Plus, does anyone have any more post-war photos of LvR or anyother German aces (circa 1919-1925)?
3. Did Bolko continue his cadet training after the war? Did he play a role in WW2 or in Spain?
4. Did Bolko, Lothar's son, or Wolfram have any sons that followed in their relatives' footsteps and joined the Luftwafe or Heer (army)?
5. Did Lothar's son have any involvement w. the German Reich or did he and his mother leave Germany?

Chris,

3. Bolko trained for the military, but became a successfull businessman. " von Richthofen and the flying Circus".
4. Wolfram became a Luftwaffe officer, and achieved rank quickly in the 3rd Reich. Chief of Staff to Sperrle, and later CO of Condor Legion. Later he commanded Fliegerkorps VIII. several posts later, he retired in '44 at age 48, and a year later died of a tumor. " von Richthofen and the flying Circus". I know i have several pics showing Wolfram with famous aces of WW2 in books.

someone else here might have a more up to date version of the Richthofen family lineage.

regards,
Ron F

Bolkos eldest son is now chief of the German Sport Organization.
Wolfram's son lives in Hamburg-Aumühle.
M and LvR's mother and brother died in the 60ties and are burried in Wiesbaden/ Germany.

Lothar's son (Wolf) was alive until at least 1998 and lives as a recluse in Sweden. He's shunned Richthofen notoriety his entire life.

That would be Hermann von Richthofen, a distant relative of MvR.

I actually have a news clipping showing HvR sitting in the cockpit of an RAF Harrier. I can post it if you'd like...

As of about 1998, Jan Freiherr von Richthofen was the head of Amnesty International in Germany and/or Europe. Haven't seen the web page in quite awhile.
