I'm trying to find out whether Albatros aircraft delivered to Turkey (DIIs and IIIs) would have been clear doped linen or camouflaged. The colors wouldn't seem to make sense but if they were factory applied they may have been used any way. Any insight?

The Albatros aircraft that FA300/Jasta55/Jasta 1F received dont appear to have CDL wings. The Albatros that Steele brought down appears to have three colour camouflage on the top wing.

There are other pictures of captured DII's and DV' s in the theatre that havce varnished fuselages, dark varnish fuselages, dark fuselage with a red and white pin stripe, one that possibly has a black fuselage ( which gets mentioned in Sutherlands book ), another very interesting one which has a mottled camouflage fuselage top and sides. The wing camouflage on the later Albatros types appears to be lozenge.

Hope that helps. I still am on the lookout for any pictures of Pfalz aircraft in the Palestinian/Syrian theatre. The AFC/RFC claimed a bunch of Pfalz aircraft and there is doubt what aircraft Jasta 1F recieved in the middle of 1918. A picture of a Pfalz in the theatre would be nice confirmation.
