Johan,

There's an excellent U-boot site called www.uboat.net and although it centres on WWII U-boote, it has a section detailing the general outlines of the WWI U-boot war. Maybe they have a bibliography? At least check out the stats; they're mighty impressive!

Kind regards,

Reinout

Dear Reinout,

Thanks for your reaction. I know the site you mentioned very well, because my first big interest in the I WW are the German U-boats, and second the air war. I even have a small number of wreckitems of German U-boats that dissapeared in the North Sea.
However it seems that there is nothing on Friedrich on the site, there is a lot of information on his brother Lothar who was Kap.lt. and commanded f.e. the famous U35, but unfortunatly I found nothing on Friedrich. There is even a lot that can be found on Lothars post war carreer on other sites, but nothing on Friedrich.
I know he took command of Seeflugsation Flandern I at the 5th of december 1914 and that he was taken a POW by the French on the 17th december 1915. I even saw his declarations he made to them and after that he vanishes completely !
Almost unbelievable...

Regards,

Johan

Hi Johan

Friedrich(Fritz) was a prewar pilot with DLV license Nr 628 from 11 December 1913.

He was comissioned Oblt zS 27/1 1911.
He was born 17/6 1888.(Marinekalender).

The fact he was NOT repriated during the war is
curios....
