G'day all,
I need a little help with Greek decorations. I am researching Flight Commander Charles Gilmour, an Aussie with the RNAS, and noted that he was awarded 2 medals from Greece, they being;

Order of the Redeemer and the Greek Silver Medal.

What would their British counterpart be, and does anyone know how Gilmour won these medals?

Andrew.

Hi Andrew

I recently bought a book detailing foreign awards to those Australians in AIF/AFC. Beacause your man was in the RNAS he is not listed. However if you want I can give you the details of the book's author as he should be able to tell you what you want to know about the medals.
Let me know

Cheers

Thanks guys,
Andrew, what is the title of the book? I snuck down to Nowra (Aust. Naval Aviation Museum.)over the long weekend and noticed that Gilmour's medals are there, so I will talk to "Windy" Gaele at some time in the future to find out the story behind them.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew

The name of the book is
'Foreign Awards to Australia from World War One to the Korean War'
by (Mr)Kerry Bulow

I did have an email address for him, but unfortunately cannot find it.
His postal address however is
20 Ellindale Close
Hampton Park
Victoria 3976

On one of the first pages is a photo of Air Vice Marshall Sir Richard Williams, KBE, CB, DSO in full dress uniform. During WW1 he was also awarded a Hejaz Order of the Nahda 3rd Class.

Cheers

Andrew
