In my literary travels, I have often found references to a Platz D-VIII, (perhaps another parsol), but have never found any information or a picture. Did this exist? Pictures? Thank you.

Are you ref. the Pfalz D-VIII? Platz contributed much as an engineering type for Fokker but didn't according to common sources put out any designs under his own name. The Pfalz DVIII was a pretty typical bi-plane Pfalz product with air-cooled engines (Goebels. Siemens-Halske and Obereusels) in lieu of the water-cooled Mercedes found in the more popular XII types. Apparently only 19, with the S-H engine, were used at the front. (Source: Green and Swanborough's "Fighters"). VBR. Lee

Platz had nothing whatsoever to do with Pfalz.

MY MISTAKE!!!! The correct spelling should, of course, be PFALZ. As in the aircraft manufacturer, who seem to have made an aircraft with a D-VIII designation.

Ed,

The May 99 issue of Internet Modeler (http://www.internetmodeler.com/may99/index.html) covered several WWI subjects. It includes a build-up article on a Pfalz DVIII kit, as well as several profiles in the Gallery.
