There's an entry for George Henry Hackwill in Above The Trenches (Shores, Franks &Guest)which shows him as having transferred to the RFC from the Somerset Light Infantry in 1915. He then flew as an FE2B pilot with 22 Squadron, then with 44 Squadron, and finally with 54 Squadron, (flying Sopwith Camels): being credited with a total of 9 combat victories by 15 September 1918. You only needed 5 to be an 'ace'.
He ended the war as a Captain, but apart from some added detail to the above nothing is shown regarding any post-war service or career. Excellent book, well worth getting if you're into this seriously, if a little pricey for casual use.
Hope that helps.

Bob
