Fellow Forumites,

There's a good possibility that I'll be spending a day in Aachen this month. I was wondering whether there was anything WWI-related to see there? I don't think it has any museums but perhaps some well-known gentlemen are buried there?

The morning will be spent visiting the cathedral and the display on Charlemagne's era.

Thank you and kind regards,

Reinout

Hi Reinout,

I don't know if this is of any interest.

I'm not certain if there would be anything to see or anything still active, but Aachen was one of the main motor rebuilding centers during the war. I have an original rebuild tag from a rebuilt Mercedes D.IIIa, and will see if I can make out an address or factory name for you to look up. It may be possible that Peter Grosz has it if I can't find the name and address.

Very best,
Dave
