Thanks all for remembering this day! My father served in WWII although never seeing 'action' I always pause to remember his commitment. I also had a great great uncle that died in the 2nd Battle of Shilo...not 20th century I know but our fore-fathers gave alot that we might have freedom today!

This Memorial Day, and every day, I honor my Uncle, Private William J. Balsley, Gunner, 30th Sqdrn, 19th Bomb Gp (H), USAAFFE. POW 12 May 42-7 Sep 44, KIA on board the Shinyo Maru off Sindangan Point, Mindanao, Phillipine Islands.

He and his comrades gave us our future.
