Did anyone else catch that article in the last National Geographic-- "Queen of the African Skies" I believe the article was called. It chronicled the journey of a Vickers Vimy (the Silver Queen) from England to Capetown, South Africa, and compared it to a similar journey taken by the original Silver Queen and Silver Queen 2 some years ago. I know this is a slightly post-WWI 'craft, but the article is certainly worth checking out for anyone with an intrest in adventure and historical aviation. I've always wanted to try a stunt like that, but I'm certain it's harder than it looks. Still, It'd be cool.

G'day All,
This is the same plane that made the journey from England to Australia to comemerate Ross Smith's epic adventure. There was a documentary of this flight, I think it was put out by National Geographic.

For your information I only recently found out(Thanks Gordon) that the original Vimy is housed in Adelaide, Australia.

Andrew.

To add to Andrews comment. If you are ever passing thru Adelaide airport and have a spare 10 minutes go out the main exit and at about 1 o'clock (slightly to your right front)about 200 m away is a light brown building. In contains the Vickers Vimy. Most people who suscribe here will understand when I speak of the good feeling one gets when looking at it.
