Does anyone know of a University that offers even a basic history class on the air war of WWI? What do they use for a text?

If you could design your own class, what text would you use? Is there anything out there that can reasonably and accurately chronicle the period, men, and machines in about 500 pages?

Thanks

I am at Uni in the UK and i have never heard of a course. The problem is that over here we seem to focus more on political and social history, more cause and effect than what actually happened. As for a text, well i haven't found one yet that does the subject justice.

Why with so much material available, would anyone want to boil it down into one textbook? Such a course, if it existed, could call on a wide and growing range of materials to provide a really fantastic course in history. No one book could possibly cover the different sides, fronts and aircraft, let alone flyers.

I think you'd find Prof. John Morrow's "The Great War in the Air" exactly what you'd need. It is a Smithsonian publication and although I think I've had in my possession most of the popular works, as well as many rare ones, on WWI aviation, as available in English, I feel the good professor has accomplished a monumental and unparalleled attainment. He might have come to this authorship as a consequence of teaching the very type of course as is of interest to you. I believe he is at U. of Florida. The American Assoc. of Univ. Professors, or the Smithsonian itself, should be able to get you his address. VBR and I hope you get the chance to offer the course. LEB
