Just thought I would let you guys know that this year, I have lost two WW1 veterans. James (Jim) Drake died in February two weeks after his 105 birthday, he had served in the Royal Navy, although not at sea as a medical orderly in the UK.Because he never saw combat he did not claim his medals, his daughter and I were in the process of claiming them for the family when he died.
Last Friday Archibald Septimus Brown died aged 103 he served in India, but could never tell me much more, he will be cremated next week.
I only know one more veteran alive now, and he will be 104 next year. He served with the Northamptonshire Reg.
