I think I may be related to Albert Ball the flying Ace because we look alike. can anyone tell me were he is from? ( which part of UK ) and any other back ground information you may have. My family is from Ireland but I do have one English relative and that is my late Grand father who was born in Cornwall.

As it happens, I live in Nottingham.
Have you ever visited the Memorial? There is also a fantastic collection of his gear at the Castle Museum. Albert is still very much a local hero in Nottingham and the amount of literature on this one ace alone is stunning.

If you'd like I can post you some of the flyers and a tour program. I also have some great photos of the castle, sherwood forest (after his unit) and the museum itself.

If you were a relative -- and please bear in mind there are a LOT of 'Ball' surnamed people in the Uk! -- you could probably get all the information you need from the local Council regarding births/deaths and geneaologies.

Aside, my great grandfather was involved with the Sherwood Foresters at the same time as Ball and I have a great deal of his memoirs, letters and such forth which mention his war experiences and the tribulations faced by himself and his then comrades .. I'd be happy to send you some duplicates if you do turn out to be a relative.

Good luck! And if you need any help finding the right folks send me some e-mail and I'll do my best to co-ordinate you from this end.

Regards,
Chris Gavin
