trying to locate where the memorial for the Layeyette Escadrille is in France, visiting there this summer and would like to see, for my dad flew with them . Would sure appreciate any information i could get
Go to the site "lafayette escadrille" on the 'net. You'll find much on the group. Info on the memorial is shown and depicted. The roster is there also but no Paden was ever with the LE. A Sgt. David Paden of Evanston, Illinois flew with the French in Spad 163. The American flyers who were members of other squadrons of the French air service were members of the "Lafayette Flying Corps" but were not of course members of the one squadron which was the famous L.E. Sgt.Paden remained with the French military and did not follow most of the other American volunteer in accepting a discharge from the French and joining the American Air Service. You can be very proud of him regardless of which unit he flew in with the French.
