Can any enthusiast out there give me any details on this US ace and a Canadian link? I understand that he was born in Nova Scotia.

I read in Rickenbacker's bio, that he flew home a n28 home with only the LOWER WING... TWICE!

The following is from a card at Directorate of History and Heritage, Canadian Forces Headquarters; but where the data came from before they got it is not known:

MEISSNER, James Armand, Major, U.S. Air Service - Born in Londonderry, Nova Scotia, 30 July 1896; educated at public and high school, Brooklyn, New York and Cornell (M.E. 1919).

Enlisted Cornell S.M.A. 28 May 1917; to France, 23 July 1917. Began flight training at Tours and then through Avord, Issoudun, France. Assigned 94th Pursuit Squadron, 8 March 1918; C.O., 147th Squadron, 23 July 1918. Officially credited with destruction of seven enemy aircraft and one kite balloon. Commissioned 1st Lieutenant, 12 December 1917, Captain 3 October 1918, Major 4 October 1918; Croix de Guerre with Pale, 15 May 1918; second Palme, July 1918; D.S.C with Oak Leaf, 19 October 1918.
