I build scale model gas and steam engines for a hobby. I would like to build a working 1/5 scale Liberty V12. Unfortunately, I've been unable to track down a source for blue prints of the engine. Does anyone know where I can get these drawings?

I think your best chances are going to be through one of the licensed manufacturers of the motor. Contact Cadillac, and see if there is a Packard museum that may have them in their archives. Also I would check with W.P.A.F.B. Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio, I believe they may have a set of the plans.

A useful reference might be: Dickey, Philip S. THE LIBERTY ENGINE 1918-1942. Washington, Smithsonian, 1968. It was part of the "Smithsonian Annals of Flight" series, and if I recall correctly, had a set of abbreviated plans. Hi, Shortly after William Harrah passed away, and before the collection in Reno Nv.was broken up, I saw a restored Liberty engine there (along with a LeRhone). As Harrah's restoration group was considered one of the best in the best in the world at the time, I am sure they worked from drawings. The museum may still have this info. Bill
