Hi everyone,

My brother and I dispute what type of planes were involved in the strafing of Rommel's staff car.

Can anyone help?

I realise this is not a WW1 topic but Forumites seem very knowledgable on WW2!

VBR

Field Marshal Rommel (who won the PlM in WW I--mandatory Great War content) reportedly was strafed by Spitfires, Typhoons, and Thunderbolts. A friend of mine who was a 9th AF P-47 group commander thought for quite awhile he did the deed, but it turned out the locale was wrong. (BTW: Mort's "I Love Me Wall" displays his hole in one certificate ABOVE his Distinguished Service Cross.)
Somewhere, somebody in Britain knows fershure.
