DOES ANYONE KNOW EXCACTLY HOW MANY SILVER CUPS MANFRED VON RICHTHOFEN HAD AND WHEN HE GOT HIS LAST ONE. AND DID LOTHAR VON RICHTHOFEN EVER HAVE ANY TROPHIES LIKE SILVER CUPS, AND DID LOTHAR HAVE ANY CHILDREN, I KNOW HE WAS KILLED IN A PLANE CRASH IN 1924, BUT HE COULD HAVE HAD TIME TO HAVE CHILDREN.

I think he had sixty some cups made. Whatever the number he was forced to stop when his jeweler could no longer obtain silver for the cups.

No info on nephews or nieces.

I READ THAT THE JEWELER HE GOT HIS CUPS FROM RAN OUT OF SILVER BUT I THOUGHT HE CONTINUED TO GET A CUP FOR EACH KILL. UNTIL JUST A FEW DAYS AGO WHEN I READ IN A BOOK CALLED "GERMAN WAR BIRDS" THAT HE LOST INTEREST IN THE CUPS AND STOPPED GETTING THEM. DO YOU KNOW IF ANY OF THE ACES WHO WERE BURIED IN OTHER COUNTRIES WHEN THEY WERE SHOT DOWN, IF LIKE RICTHOFEN THEY WERE MOVED BACK TO THIER HOME COUNTRY FOR INSTANCE WAS LANOE GEORGE HAWKER. I READ THAT HITLER HAD RICHTHOFEN'S BODY MOVED DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR. AND DO YOU KNOW IF ANY OF THE ACES ON EITHER SIDE, IF ANY WERE MARRIED, I HAVE READ WHERE BALL WAS ENGAGED. DO YOU KNOW IF ANY HAD CHILDREN.

On 5 june 1919 Lothar had married Dorris, Countess von Keyserlingk, by whom he had a son and a daughter. Lothar's son is still alive.

A few years ago there was newspaper comment re. the practice in Germany which saw indigent widows of noble lineage- and name- offering "arranged marriages" which permitted (apparently as per German civil law) the new husband to take the titled name as his own. Cited cited specifically in the article was the availability of a widow Von R!

Yeah, Ricthofen had 60 cups made before the shortage of silver in Berlin took its toll. 1. Lothar did not have a trophy system of his own.
2. He married and had a son. No info on a daughter.
3. Lanoe Hawker's body was lost in "No Man's Land" after being buried on the spot of his crash.
4. Richthofen's body was not moved by Hitler. It remained in the Hero's Funeral in Berlin until it was moved after the war to be next to his father and brother.

It's not true.
Manfred von Richthofen was moved from BERLIN to WIESBADEN in 1975 (because the contitions of the BERLIN-WALL were to be changed an the grave there would have disappeared under the WALL.
Lothar, who died in 1922, & Albrecht v.R. were burried in hometown Schweidnitz. The Polish build a soccer-field on the old graveyard. I do have this information directly from the family.

If you want to have a look on the Richthofen-Grave in Wiesbaden, try "findagrave.com".
