I have come across a 72 page publication of these Albatros fighters in Austrian hands published by the Czech company JaPo it was written by Petr A. Tesar in 1998 and containes many many great photographs and 23 good colour profiles by Tomas Poruba, I have been unable to find any more information about other WW1 avation books written or published by the above. Can anybody help !

Stuart, previously they have published a Me262 monograph that I know of and no WW1 subjects other than the one you have. We can live in hopes though, because that sure is a good'un.

I don't know of any other publications from JaPo but I was very impressed with the Albatros book. Santa gave it to me and I was a very happy camper!

Leo, I got mine from Motor Books but I am sure you can find one closer to home. At the price it's unbelievable. Four times the size of a Datafile with ten times the content and at very nearly the same price. Get one.

Thank you both for your replies. Does the book go into any detail concerning the modification of the Diii wing in series 53, 153, and 253. It supposedly was stronger than the german built models. Somehow I will get the book. Thanks again.

Hello folks,

You made my day with this thread! I have been slowly planning a long-term project to build a historically accurate flying repro of a D.III, and this book appears to be an excellent reference for such a project. Thus far I have basic redrawings of factory plans, and a few sources of information, but that's it. I greatly appreciate the information you have shared here! My copy is on it's way...

Regards,
Todd Wortmann

I attempted to find the above named book on the Motor Books Web Site, but could not. I strongly urge Forumites to take a look at the site. It has some great stuff there.

Leo, you're loosing the plot mate. I entered "Japo" in the sites search window and got a listing. The book comes out at £10:99, or around $17:00 in candy wrappers
