Hi All
I just copied this from www.simcombat.com :

In late September of 1999, Sierra/Dynamix announced that they will no longer be supporting the WWI flight sim "Red Baron." For those not familiar with the game, we invite you to browse this site, and you will soon be impressed with the strength of the community and the player
support of the game. simCombat is working with the Red Baron community to sponsor a petition in an attempt to generate interest amongst game publishers to either purchase outright the rights to "Red Baron" from Sierra/Dynamix, or to publish their own version of a decent WWI sim. If you have interest in supporting WWI combat simulation, please stop by and sign the petition. Tell your friends about it, and feel free to post the SOS logo on your sites!

Please clarify the term "no longer support".

As a avid RB3d pilot you have caused me some concern.

Thanks
Pat

Pat,

"no longer support" loosely translates as:

"we put out an unfinished sim, you guys had the gall, after waiting ten years for the product to tell us so and THEN criticise the atrocious 'improvements' that we made, set up your own community of hackers who had the audacity to try to fix it themselves, publically encourage and plead with us to do something about it, present us with actual EVIDENCE as to the shortcomings of our startlingly terrible flight models AND to top it off, post loyally on boards which we promised you were monitored by our staff to deal with any 'issues' you may discover. Due to this reprehensible behaviour by our avid fans we have now decided to aim squarely at a market which our programmers have the intelligence and experience to keep moderately happy (otherwise known in the industry as the '12 year old Doom player' market)
It is therefore with a total lack of deep regret that we inform you all that we sincerely liked your US$49.95, AU$90, (if niether of the above insert your currency here: ) and that we will no longer entertain questions, ideas, complaints, or correspondence of any kind on RB2, RB3D or any variants thereof and you can all go and (insert choice of expletive here: )

Ensuring you of our continued desire to take your money on any new programme we write.
Sierra Dynamix

I think that about covers it

regards and I'm definately a dot,

Killratio

Hurrah for the next that dies!

That's why, when they annouced their decision months ago on this, I decided and sent them email stating my intention to NOT buy anymore Sierra/Dynamix products. As I was really pissed off at their canceling Desert Fighters as well.

There you have it. I can't say it better. The basic idea of the petition is to get S/D to sell the rights to somebody willing to support the game. So go over to www.simcombat.com and sign it.

Al. The scrapping of Desert Fighters is still a very sore point. Now that was one sim I was looking forward to.

It is terrible that they had managed in my opinion to come up with a "new sim" that wasn't as fun as the original sim. I did think as a pilot their flight models sucked. Thats why I no longer try and play their game but subscribe to SimGuilds Flying Circus a online game for only $10 per month. They are closer to the original game in flight models and more realistic in many ways. they are soon going to up date this game to 3D and updates with more planes. Try this game , you will like it. See you there.

One has to wonder, what their reasoning is. I signed the petition and hope others will, too.
