I'm looking for any information on how Schlasta 2's aircraft were painted. Were there any re-occuring symbols or themes used on their aircraft?

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Hi Kojack

There is an article in OTF with paint schemes of some Schlasta 2 aircraft....but I cant find it at the moment..I have to many magazines and no total register.

You can probably contact them through the links on this website to get a copy of the article.
There also exist many good photos of this unit one is in OTF 8/3 inside back cover.

Good luck
Gunnar

C&C(US) V.25#3 gives the following squadron markings on their Halberstadt CL.IIs.
Mar. 1918 - complete tail unit black and a large white number on the camouflaged fuselage.
Apr.-May 1918 - black tail with white fin & rudder
plus the white fuselage number.
Datafile # 27 also has Halb. CL.II with a lozenge covered tail and the white fuselage number.

Hope this helps.

I recently found a color profile of a Halberstadt CL.II in the same colors you mentioned, however the caption underneath it says that the black tail was the personal marking of Schlasta 2's commander at the time.

What you say is true. In Over The Front v.8 #3 is a photo of a lineup of Schlasta 2 Halb. CL.IIs. The lead a/c belongs to C.O. Obltn. Bechtle - black tail, white fuselage band and number '4'. However in the background is another black tailed a/c. So the black tail 'might' be a squadron marking.
